Bankside Design District

Bankside Design District is a celebration of the area’s thriving creative industries with a programme of installations, open studios and interactive workshops which reflect the vibrancy and diversity of Bankside.

Highlights for Bankside 2018 included a series of flags marking the independent state of Bankside created by some of Bankside’s and London’s leading designers; the ‘Designing a Destination’ debate at Fora exploring whether creative clusters are born or made; designjunction at Oxo Tower Wharf, showcasing an exhibition of world-class contemporary interior design; the interactive history of type through the medium of wine and gin with Sarah Hyndman of Type Tasting; the Better Letters sign painting schools in Borough Market with US legend Mike Meyer.

Putting South London design on the map, Bankside Design District runs east to west along the Thames from Borough Market to Oxo Tower Wharf. Bankside Late activity took place on Wednesday 19 September.

The Bankside Design District is coordinated by Better Bankside, a partnership of over 650 businesses in Bankside, London SE1. Better Bankside, a Business Improvement District, exists to make Bankside a better place to live, work and visit. A Business Improvement District (BID) is an independent, business-owned and led company, which seeks to improve a given location for commercial activity.
